Four more drivers will join the ARCA Midwest Tour presented by SCAG Power Equipment Touring Star program for the 2017 season.
The Touring Star program has over $60,000 in Touring Star bonuses, travel incentives and point fund this season in addition to over $40,000 in product certificates from their supporting contingency partners, making this Tour the most prestigious Super Late Model tour in the upper Midwest.
All four drivers have 20 or less starts in the series and hope to get a breakthrough victory this season starting with the 10th Annual Joe Shear Classic on Sunday, May 7th at Madison International Speedway in Oregon, Wisconsin.
Paul Shafer Jr. enters the 2017 ARCAMT season with five top-five’s and nine top-ten finishes in 17 starts after finishing second in the 2016 standings. Shafer won the 2014 Illiana Motor Speedway championship at the age of 17. He also qualified into the 2014 Snowball Derby on his first attempt where he finished 15th. He finished second in the Madison Triple Crown Series in 2014 and fourth last season. The Portage, Indiana driver is a full-time student at Valparaiso University. He will be a bright star to watch this season.
Austin Nason comes into this season with 20 starts with two top-five and seven top-ten finishes so far in the in the ARCA Midwest Tour. Last season he finished fourth in the Madison Triple Crown Series and finished eighth in the ARCAMT standings. He is the 2015 ARCAMT Rookie of the Year and had four victories in 2014 competing the Big 8 Series. He has logged Super Late Model and Late Model victories including a victory during Speedweeks at New Smyrna Speedway in Florida.
Dalton Zehr is a two-time champion in the TUNDRA Super Late Model Series. He would not only like to get his first victory in the ARCA Midwest Tour this season, but would also like to add another championship to his impressive resume. He comes into the 2017 season as the defending track champion at Marshfield Motor Speedway. So far, he has two top-five’s and seven top-ten finishes in 19 starts in the ARCA Midwest Tour.
Natalie Decker is not only looking for her first win in the ARCA Midwest Tour, but also be the first female driver to win the series. She has logged feature victories at State Park Speedway and Golden Sands Speedway. She will also make three starts in the ARCA Racing Series this season driving for Venturini Motorsports. So far in the ARCA Midwest Tour she has 13 starts with one top-five and six top-ten finishes.
These four drivers will join more soon to be announced Touring Stars for the 2017 season that will have 12 events throughout Illinois, Minnesota and Wisconsin.
Spectator gates for the 10th Annual Joe Shear Classic at Madison International Speedway in Oregon, Wisconsin will open at 11:30am on Sunday, May 7th, racing begins at 2pm.
The afternoon will also feature a post qualifying fan autograph session in the new Turn 4 Party Pavilion.
Adult general admission tickets are $25. Whelen Heroes, Seniors and Students (ages 12-17) $22, Kids (6-11) $10 with Children (5 & under) Free. Family pricing is also available for $60 which includes up to two adults and up to four admissions for those ages 17 & under.
