Multi-Time Champs Amongst Celebrity Spectacular Drag Entries
Loves Park, IL- The first ever Celebrity Spectacular Drags being held at Rockford Speedway this Saturday Night June 29 already has four drivers with undeniable Short Track Racing Pedigrees. Seven-time Rockford Speedway Track Champions Ricky ‘The Rocket’ Bilderback and Bobby Wilberg, three-time Track Champion Jerry Gille as well as former All-Star Shootout Winner Jon Reynolds, Sr will be amongst those celebrities taking on the Spectacular Drag participants during the Kar Korner All-Star 100. The Special Event will feature the ‘Stars and Cars’ of the ARCA Midwest Tour in a 100 lap feature event as well as the NASCAR Stanley Steemer Late Models in the Star Spangled 76, Spectacular Drags as well as the 10,000 WATT Fireworks Extravaganza.
The Spectacular Drag races will include elimination rounds and a best two out of three final from the celebrity pool and those entrants ‘off the street’ in a combined bracket. Then the celebrities will be part of a special bracket placing them head to head against one another. This is a chance for Spectacular Drag drivers to take on some of Rockford Speedway’s very best. Wilberg (1991, 1995-2000) is still winning Championships and leads the point standings at Madison International Speedway while also running part time at LaCrosse Fairgrounds Speedway. Bilderback clicked off seven consecutive Championships at Rockford (2001-2007) and remains one of the speedway’s most decorated drivers. Gille, won a pair of Championships (2008-2009) and completed the feat again following the 2012 season at the quarter-mile paved oval. Reynolds, Sr is a past Midwest Modified Champion and All-Star Shootout winner as well as a former Big 8 Series and NASCAR Northern Series National Short Track Championship winner at Rockford. Those wishing to enter their street car in the Spectacular Drags are encouraged to sign-up at the pit gate starting at 4pm this Saturday night.
Adult general admission tickets are $25, kids 6-11 are $10 with kids 5 and under admitted free. Spectator gates open at 5, qualifying begins at 6:10pm with the first race at 7:07pm.
