Majeski Top in Qualifying for Oktoberfest 200 on Sunday
Four-time ARCA Midwest Tour champion and defending Oktoberfest 200 winner Ty Majeski got his weekend off to a fast start as he led the field in qualifying for the main event at the 51st Annual Oktoberfest Race Weekend at the La Crosse Fairgrounds Speedway in West Salem, Wisconsin.
The two-time Oktoberfest 200 winner also declared in pre-race ceremonies that he will take the Ultimate Challenge, where he will start shotgun on the field and if he wins it, will pick up a bonus that is currently at $6,300.
Majeski topped the qualifying chart with a time of 18.540 seconds, but coming up short of the track record of 18.508 seconds.
Andrew Morrissey was second quick with a time of 18.591 seconds with Gabe Sommers in third with a time of 18.653 seconds. Skylar Holzhausen and Rich Bickle Jr. rounded out the top five.
The top 16 in qualifying were locked into Sunday’s Oktoberfest 200.
Four more drivers earned a starting spot in Sunday’s race by finishing first and second in the two qualifier heats.
In the first qualifier, Michael Ostdiek went to an easy victory with Derek Kraus in second. Joe Shear Classic winner Johnny Sauter punched his ticket by winning the second qualifier. John DeAngelis was second to get a starting spot for Sunday.
The top-16 were split into odd & even heats with Paul Shafer Jr. winning the odd heat and current point leader Casey Johnson held off a hard charging Jonathan Eilen for the even heat win.
The rest of the starting field will be determined through a last chance race on Sunday.
There will be an on-track autograph session starting at 10:45am on Sunday. Racing will get underway at noon. Will Majeski come through the field and take home a bonus of at least $6,300? Be here and witness it in person!!!
